She was just 21 then and naysayers suggested her father Bertie had more to do with her success than her writing skills. Seven novels and over 10 million copies later, Ahern has proved them all wrong. Like one of her own heroines, she has beaten back the doubters with a dazzling smile and sheer hard work. She is now a wife and a mother and took last year off to spend time with her new baby daughter. She has clearly not been resting on her laurels though as her page short story book, Girl In The Mirror, is out this week, and a new novel, Love, is coming in October.

Kejar In the title story, Lila is getting married to the man of her dreams but discovers a family secret on her wedding day that threatens to ruin, not only her marriage but her firl.
It gave me goosebump. Cecellia bought the book thinking it will be full of tear jerking romance. Lila knows how lucky she is to have found the man of her dreams. Dec 02, Alexandra rated it liked it. Well, Lila sacrificed a stranger.
Ahern has left me reeling! It felt too short for me which I love and hate at the same time. I confess I found the book very confusing at first!
Two powerful and unforgettable stories: The first story in this book was haunting. To find out d truth This short story is possibly one of the most effective Cecelia has written, exploring a dark side to the magical worlds she delights in creating. A most sickening kind of love. The haern granddaughter, Lila, has never questioned this habit girp is startled to see that both her grandmother and the old house scare her friends. It was a aherh read overall.
The second story, The Memory Maker, was much better. And he wants to change it. It tells the tale of a man who invents a machine that can create memories. In conclusion, I would recommend this to everyone. I have to agree with the other comments about this book, I was disappointed. Both stories had a great concept but in the end you get the feeling that you want more, especially in the first one which ends so abruptly. A dark and poignant story revolving round Lila and her grandmother, Ellie or Grellie, as she is tye called.
So, we meet the boy who remaps his memories to include an absent father cheering at the sidelines of his childhood football matches. There is an unexpected darkness at the heart of these stories that suggests Ahern is heading in a new direction, even if it is still firmly in the realm of the fairytale.
He chooses a select few who are able to use it and these people all have reasons to want to create memories that he deems to be acceptable for use of his machine. But when the second Judith enters his world, everything becomes more messy. Mar 19, Ella rated it liked it. Cerpen Girl in the Mirror, lumayan mencekam dan bikin saya penasaran.
