Es hat fast indische Rhythmen. Many years from now, S. Noone can say. Er stellte sich die Frage, weshalb jemand Reis in einer Kirche aufsammeln sollte. I was wandering round Bristol one day and saw a shop called Rigby.

Its 2am. Im willing back an emotional outburst. It manifests itself in the usual waylump in the throat, shaky hands. I hate this and then again. Do you ever feel like the Tin Man? Its a horrible feeling. I feel like that one Scrabble tile that has no letter on it. Exactly Its been a dozen years at least since Ive read Coupland.

I remember being inspired by Generation X and feeling like I was a piece of living history. It manifests itself in the usual way—lump in the throat, shaky hands. I hate this and then again…. This was our timeHe was writing about me. Oh, to be young and so self-absorbed.

Yet here I am feeling that Coupland has nailed it. He gives me faith. Time is whimsical and cruel. Maybe I should talk about the book.

Stay on track. In front of me is a piece of notebook paper with page numbers and quotes scribbled all over it.

I do this when I read something that elicits gooseflesh. This book mentions 4 hidden layers of personality, the public self, the private self, the secret self and the dark self. That frightens me a little. I loved this book. I love Coupland for stringing together words, for giving me my faith and still letting me be a skeptic.

ELEANOR RIGBY

Liz Dunn is not ordinary or mundane, but is immersed in the idea that she is less than those things. She repeatedly tells the reader that she is overweight, plain, invisible in a crowd, detached, empty and chronically, hopelessly lonely. That is, until her world turns upside-down, which is not always a bad thing. Much of the story occurs when Liz is 36, but her life changes when Jeremy, like the comet that so inspired her to try to change, flashes through her life.
