After a bit of troubleshooting I narrowed the problem to how they were dealing with Essbase Global Variables. When global variables were placed in the slicers, they functioned correctly and the mdx looked clean. Cognos put them into tuples exactly as I would expect. When nested in crosstabs they also worked.

Akizahn What you can do instead is reference the YTD as the default value in the prompt macro: In the case of a tuple, measures are considered part of a hierarchy and the same limitation applies. I am using running count in my query to calculate the number of occuerence of the the data item. Difficult problem, but not insurmountable. The problem happens when they want to truncate the Long Name of the KPI to show only the first 3 characters. As 4th week has 0 value for the measure, 3rd 4th week cumilative value is same and I am seeing parllel stright line from 3rd week to 4th week.

Each calculated member should have a name unique within dimension and a calculation formula the rest of the fknctions will teach how to write calculation formulas. When something is not working as expected then comment all formula lines and leave uncommented just some part of the formula that you would like to debug.
Cognos will resolve that statement to children [Cube]. It is important to understand the mechanism. Since a relational table can be visualized in only two dimensions it is very easy to understand and visualize running and moving aggregates. End of Support for Rational Insight If all goes well you should see the line growing as expected. There are several functions available for data type conversions:. At the most basic level you need to run the periodsToDate function twice, once to sum all of the years prior to the year in each row, and again for the months.
If you would like to define new calculated member then expand corresponding dimension e. Instead of the periodsToDate function, you would use lastPeriods. Sorry, your blog cannot share posts by email. For weekly hierarchy use the PeriodsToDate [Time. Mindaugas Grigas 5. The calculations will run during each report execution and fhnctions available alongside the stored members. This is one of the occasions where you can use an if statement. One of them is the values keyword. I functiond trying to make 4th week 0 value to null, but still I see till 4th week.

To start funftions a new line graph report. The next demand is to see the running total for the previous year. That will multiply the Sales Total by the row number. End of Support for Rational Insight 1. This gives us the correct URL parameters we need: But my problem is with with the execution time it is taking to run the report.
Are both series returning blank or only one? Instead they could have used a Report Expression. The function currentMember will only work in the context of the month.
As a benchmark test, the client took the changes I made and applied them to the Compatible Query Mode. Nobody has any experience with multidmensional reporting and they are all used to working with framework manager pls excuse my possibly wrong terminology here.
That will the running total for the months, you just need to add all of the total for the previous years:. First you need to identify your tree prompt. These annotations are used in the eazyBI user interface to group calculated members or to allow or disable certain actions:.
I am not sure where which email thread to attach screenshot in cognoise. June 23, by CognosPaul Leave a comment. Is it possible to achieve below requirement? Please watch demo videos in this documentation page to see in action typical definitions and usage of calculated members. Calculated members In Cognos you could write something like: I am using expression as. This is essentially the same expression, with mvx parallelPeriod function wrapping the currentMember.
Sometimes you might need to convert string expression to an integer, a decimal or a date expression for example, to convert Highrise custom field string value to corresponding type to be able to use it in further calculations. Which is a good thing, since the running functions are very limiting.

Current Member: Returns the Current member of a hierarchy. Ancestor; Returns the ancestor of the specified member Children: Returns the set of children of a specified member. Cognos MDx Functions Tuple — Refers to an intersection of one or members from one or more dimensions to define a specific measure value Set — A group of members or tuples. In the [Years] hierarchy, the members [Q1 ], [Q2 ], [Q1 ], [Q2 ] taken together is a set of members. As an example, a slicer of will limit any data returned to
